Women, Land and Legacy

 trying a hand-held corn planter

Recently, we were lucky enough to host a group of women from Buena Vista, Pocahontas and Calhoun counties. These women, from the organization Women, Land and Legacy, came to the museum to learn about pioneer farming. Connie Dallenbach and Dorothy Lamberti presented a program using local stories and slides about the first 50 years of farming in this area. Group members also got an opportunity to try out the corn sheller, husking pegs and hand-held corn planter as well as enjoying some of the other museum displays.
